School’s Out For SUMMER.

School’s out for the summer, which probably means more outdoor time for your family, and maybe even the start of camp for your kids. It also means it’s time to get prepared for the inevitable stains and wear & tear that will happen to your family’s clothing & your home furnishings. Don’t worry….we’ve got you covered. Check out our handy guide to removing common stains. These tips work on both your clothing and your home furnishings when it comes to common fabrics (anytime you have delicate materials or stubborn stains, we always recommend calling in the professionals to avoid ruining your fine fabrics!).

  • Markers/Ink – Let’s hope it’s washable marker, in which case you can launder as usual. But if pen ink or non-washable marker gets onto their clothing (or upholstery!), you can blot with a paper towel to remove as much of the stain as you can. Then pour rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel and blot – you should see the stain begin to transfer to the towels. Continue to process until the ink is removed before laundering.
  • Grass – Apply a stain treater directly to the stain and rub fabric together. Wash as you normally would. If stain persists, mix 1 part white vinegar with 1 part water, and treat stain with solution. Wash again.
  • Juice – Rinse/soak the garment in cool water to remove as much of the stain as possible. Treat with a small amount of stain treater and rub fabric together. Allow to sit for 10-20 minutes, then wash in the hottest water allowed based on the garment care instructions.
